Organising (& entertaining) crews for over 15 years as a 1st Assistant Director

 

The one thing that is constant...my energy, determination & desire to perform to my upmost for any given project. I think it is so important to give a Director & Producer the support and organisational skills throughout, so as to maximise an often, very tight shooting schedule, all done with a smile on my face and encouragement in my voice!

 

My job has taken me all over the world to some strange and beautiful locations...and also to 3 Mills Studios!!! Along the way I've gained experience across the many different and varying platforms from music promos, channel idents & re-brands, commercials and films, both long & short form. Over the years, different jobs have included multi-format, multiple cameras, tracking vehicles, helicopter work, stunts, motion (emotional!) control, A-list (& Z-list!) celebrities and working with children (dealing with Grips!) amongst other things.

 

With a career of nearly 20 years behind me, I've gained experience across all areas of the industry. I started out as an aircraft engineer when I left school but after 9 years of building aeroplanes I wasn't happy with the lack of creativity in my chosen career, so back to college I went with a new pencil case and a determination to change direction! After gaining qualifications in graphic design & photography I started out as a runner to get some extra cash, stumbled over a new career and found myself progressing through the ranks into a hard-working, enthusiastic 1st Assistant Director.
